How to make saffron tea

Of course to make Saffron tea you could use ready packed saffron tea-bags or loose saffron teas available on shops. However, making your own saffron tea means you can choose both your saffron and tea based on your taste and desire.

As with every dish using saffron, in order to get the most out of saffron and making an aromatic and flavoursome saffron tea, first grind the saffron threads using a mortar and pestle into powder if your saffron is not already in a powder form. Then, soak your saffron powder in a small amount of warm (not boiling) water for at least 10 minutes.

Finally, simply brew your tea/tea-bag in your teapot and add the saffron water (with the soaked saffron inside) to your tea in the last few minutes before drinking the tea.

Let the tea brew for the requires/instructed time. If you are using loose tea let the tea brew for at least 10 – 15 min. If using tea-bags remove the teabag from your teapot after the duration as instructed by the tea manufacturer (should be around 5min), you can leave the tea to brew without the teabag and with the saffron for further 5 to 10 min for stronger flavour.
